Rev. Charles Mays is a Conservative Southern Baptist Preacher who believes the Bible to be
the infallible, inerrant Word of God without any mixture of error.
Charles was saved by God's Grace in his home in the fall of 1973 in Memphis, TN after reading
a book by Billy Graham entitled "World Aflame." He later joined Southmoor Baptist Church
and was scripturally baptized there in 1974.
While at Southmoor, Charles was ordained as a Deacon. He was called to preach in 1975 and attended Mid-South Bible College in Memphis from 1976-1979. He later enrolled at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary (Memphis, TN.) in 1979 and graduated in June of 1982.
Bro. Charles began preaching at Calvary Rescue Mission and Union Rescue Mission in Memphis and has pastored five churches in Arkansas at McCrory, Dermott, Ft. Smith,
Hot Springs and Sherwood and held Interims in several other churches in Arkansas since retiring from the Pastorate...
He has been active in both Denominational and Associational work. He served over 25 years as Evangelism Director in the Associations where he has pastored. He was elected as Second Vice President of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention and also served on the Executive Board. He served the Convention on Committee's at Ouachita Baptist University as well as Williams Baptist College.
Charles has been privileged to go on five Mission Trips to share the Gospel: twice to Manaus, Brazil, once to Sao Paulo Brazil, once to Guatamala and also to Honduras.
He was privileged to travel to Israel with Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in 1985 to
tour various archeological finds and ruins from the Bible.
Bro. Mays is presently Staff Evangelist at Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church in Sherwood, AR. and does both Supply Preaching, Revivals and short Interims. He has been certified in Interim Ministry work by the Arkansas Baptist State Convention and written an Evangelistic Booklet entitled "An Effective Plan In Winning The Lost. He also leads soul-winning Seminars in Churches and Associations on "So You Want To Be A Soul Winner" and "How To Lead A Lost Person To Jesus".
He has been married to his wife, Rose for 54 years (July 1965-2019). They have two daughters, Tammy and Kimberly and five wonderful grandchildren: Jacob, Hannah, Taylor, Andrew and Emily Grace. He and Rose live in Sherwood, Arkansas.
